Reservation in CRICKET



BCT stands for OBC , SC , ST.

The govt. has decided to further protect the rights of backward section by having some new reservation in cricket. The bill is likely to take effect after the cricket world cup next year in west indies. The govt. has asked the BCCI to submit a report on the actions that can be taken to protect the intrests of SC, ST and OBC. The BCCI has submitted its report with certain relaxation in the sports and also sent a request to to the ICC for approval. The ICC has approved it saying that they have no problem with it as it is the internal matter of the country. As per the sources the few main points proposed in the report are -

1. The players of BCT(i.e OBC ,SC , ST) will have 49.5% quota in the team as proposed in education system.
2. The BCT batsmen cannot be bowled at speed greater than 145 Km/h.
3. The BCT batsmen will have relaxtion of one stumping and one hitwicket before being adjugded as out.
4. The crease for BCT batsmen will be 1 ft shorter than normal.
5. The BCT batsmen cannot be out on the first ball or on zero.
6. The Bct feilders will have the prefernce if they drop a hard catch and the batsmen in that case if of general category will be adjuged out and if from BCT section than it will be a re-ball.
7. The BCT bowlers will have the relaxation to ball 1 no ball , 1 wide, and 2 bouncers per over if the batsmen is of general category otherwise only 2 bouncers are allowed.
8. The boundary for BCT batsmen will be 10% shorter.
9. The BCT batsmen can not be caught out near the boundary ropes.
